We have a 1920s home with original features and tall ceilings and I wanted to be sympathetic to the property but also inject a really sense of ourselves with fun spaces, calm spaces and bold colour but I just wasn’t sure how to accomplish this, I was overwhelmed.

My wife and I are a retired couple who have pretty conservative tastes. We have a large lounge we wanted to completely refurb and felt we probably needed help with this to achieve a significant change and get away from our usual choices of somewhat bland pastel colours. In short, we often saw things we liked, but had no idea how to integrate these into our own home.

We’d always thought of an interior designer being for the ‘rich and famous’ – however having been recommended to work with Emma we quickly found this isn’t the case. Emma was affordable, enthusiastic and full of ideas. We wanted to be a little more adventurous with both colours and textures and Emma was great at helping us achieve this.

Not only did she make great recommendations, but has a portfolio of excellent tradesmen – in our case a decorator and a bespoke furniture builder who made us a custom TV unit with storage. Additionally, she has access to many trade-only companies where she found us curtain material, lighting and wallpaper not available to the general public.

We have no hesitation in recommending Emma and look forward to working with her again.

I have always done my own interiors in my home but got tired of rooms looking rather “safe” and bland. I was tending to return to the same colours and needed Emma to give me a push and take me out of my comfort zone.

Emma listens carefully to what you want from a room and takes that on board, whilst giving you a design that you never would have thought of yourself. What I particularly love about Emma’s designs is that she thinks of the practicalities of the room as well as the aesthetic. Having two children, she has a great understanding of how homes work for families, however she has definitely added a touch of glam to our rooms.

I cannot recommend Emma enough. She pushed my boundaries, but really listened to mine and my family’s needs and we could not be happier with the rooms she has designed in our home.
